Real Old-fashioned Art Instruction
This is a wonderful little film, showing woodblock artist Lowell Naeve taking a project through from start to finish. The source material appears to have been slightly damaged as the vertical line is present throughout, but no matter. What strikes me most is that the film is so gently paced, something nobody does anymore. The simple narration and music add to the slow, contemplative mood of the piece. I really feel I learned something about the basic process of woodblock from this little film, and now I'm interested in learning more about Naeve and his work.
